Member rules
The rules, in plain English
Share the Toy is a toy library for families in Lebanon. Choose a monthly plan, borrow toys and books, cleaned and checked, and earn extra points by giving toys your kids have outgrown. By joining, you agree to these rules.
Version 1.3 · November 2026
Lost or broken toys, in short
- Normal wear from play costs nothing.
- Missing small part: 1–3 points, given back if you find it.
- Lost, or broken beyond repair: the toy's value today in points.
- Something wrong when it arrives? Send us a photo on WhatsApp within 24 hours and you won't be charged.
1. Who can join
- Any parent or legal guardian aged 18 or over living in an area we serve.
- One membership per family. The adult who signs up is responsible for the toys and the points.
2. Plans and points
- Small plan, $25 a month: 25 points for as many toys as they cover (up to 12 small toys at 2 points), plus 2 bonus books.
- Pick your points, from $30 a month: choose 30, 35, 40 points or more, in steps of 5, at $1 a point. There's no upper limit. As many toys as your points cover, plus 3 bonus books.
- Yearly: pay for 10 months and get 12 (2 months free). $250 a year on the Small plan; 10 times your monthly price on Pick your points (e.g. $300 for 30 points). Your points still come each month, with the same carry-over.
- Pause: on a yearly plan you can pause for 1 month a year (for travel or summer). Your year is extended by that month.
- Leaving a yearly plan early: the months you used are charged at the monthly price and we refund the rest.
- 1 point is worth about $1. Each toy costs its points for every month it's at home, including toys kept from last month.
- Unused points: up to 5 plan points carry over to next month. The rest expire.
- Going over? Use points you earned by giving toys, or buy extra points at $1 each.
- Extra books: beyond your 2 (Small plan) or 3 (Pick your points) bonus books, 1 point each, or 2 for premium books (hardcovers, sets, pop-up and sound books).
- Earn points by giving toys. You get up to a fifth (20%) of the toy's original price new, and never less than 10%, depending on its age and condition, set with our points calculator. Example: a toy that cost $40 new earns 4 to 8 points.
- Points can't be turned into cash or refunded.
- You can gift points to another member family.
- Points you earn by giving toys expire after 12 months with no activity.
- Founding families get 10 bonus points and free home delivery for their first month on a monthly plan, or their first 3 months on a yearly plan. When you refer a family that joins, you both get 5 points.
- Paying: cash (to the delivery driver or at pickup) or a Whish transfer. You pay at your first swap, then each month, or once a year on a yearly plan.
3. Giving toys
- We accept toys for ages 0–8 that are safe, complete, working and easy to clean.
- We don't accept plush or bath toys, broken or recalled toys, toys with cracks, sharp edges, stains that won't clean or battery leaks.
- We set the toy's value and condition grade. If you don't agree with the points offered, you can take the toy back, no questions asked.
- Points arrive within 3 days, after cleaning and inspection.
- Once points are credited, the toy belongs to Share the Toy and joins the shared library.
- Toys worth under $5 today earn 1 point and can still be borrowed. Toys we can't use may go to a children's charity.
- Books: each book we accept earns 1 point, or 2 for a premium book. Ages 0–8, in Arabic, French or English, with no torn pages, writing or stains.
4. Borrowing
- Each toy costs 25% of its original price new per month, with a minimum of 2 points (a toy that costs $40 new is 10 points). The price is the same every month, whether the toy is new or has been borrowed before, and whether we bought it or a family gave it. Some toys are discounted: they show a yellow sticker.
- Returning a toy before the month ends costs the same points.
- There's no limit on the number of toys at home: only your points count. Small toys start at 2 points, so 25 points can bring up to 12 of them.
- Want to keep a toy longer? Tell us at least 2 weeks before the end of the month to extend. The extra month's points come out of next month's points.
- Points are taken when the toy is handed to you.
- Buying toys: library toys aren't for sale for now, so we can keep enough toys for every family. We may offer this later.
5. Delivery and pickup
- Pickup from our pickup point is free.
- Home delivery is a flat $5 per visit, paid in cash to the driver. Free for founding families in their first month (3 months on a yearly plan).
- Swaps happen on the same trip: we drop the new toys and collect the old ones.
- Please be home at the agreed time. If you cancel less than 24 hours before, the delivery fee is still due.
6. When you receive a toy
- Every toy is cleaned, checked and photographed before it leaves us.
- Check it when it arrives. Tell us within 24 hours on WhatsApp if anything is missing or broken, with a photo, so you're not charged for it.
- Battery toys come with working batteries. Tell us if they run out; please don't open battery compartments.
7. Looking after toys
- Use toys as intended and keep them indoors unless they're outdoor toys.
- Please don't wash, repair or take apart toys yourself. We do the cleaning.
- Keep all the parts together. Return toys in the same bag or box they came in.
- If your child is sick with something contagious, tell us when you return the toys so we take extra care cleaning them.
8. Returns, late returns, lost or broken toys
- Grace period: 3 days. After that, another month is charged.
- Normal wear from play is fine and costs nothing.
- Missing small part: 1–3 points. If you find it later and return it, we give the points back.
- Lost, or broken beyond repair: the toy's value today in points (its price new, adjusted for its age and condition). If you don't have enough points, you top up.
- Lost or badly damaged book: 1 point, or 2 for a premium book.
- Accidents happen. Tell us straight away and we'll always look for the fairest solution.
9. Safety
- Follow the age range on each toy. Toys for older kids may have small parts that are a choking risk for babies and toddlers.
- Always supervise young children while they play.
- We check every toy carefully, but we can't be responsible for injuries from misuse, from using a toy outside its age range, or from lack of supervision.
- If a toy seems unsafe, stop using it and tell us right away.
10. Your information
- We keep your name, number, area and address only to run Share the Toy.
- We never sell or share it. You can ask us to delete it at any time once all toys are returned. More in our privacy page.
- We may post photos of toys on social media, never of your children unless you send them to us and say yes.
11. Leaving or being asked to leave
- You can stop any time: return all toys and you're done. On a yearly plan, the months you used are charged at the monthly price and we refund the rest. Unused points stay valid for 12 months.
- We may close a membership if toys are repeatedly damaged, kept or not returned, or if someone is rude to our team. Unreturned toys will be charged at their current value.
12. Changes to these rules
- We're new and will improve as we learn. If the rules change, we'll tell you on WhatsApp at least 2 weeks before.
- Questions? Message us on WhatsApp any time.
